Q. Is Fentistat an antibiotic or a steroid?
No, Fentistat is neither an antibiotic nor a steroid. It belongs to imidazole class of antifungals. It is used to treat candidiasis (thrush) occuring in the vulva and vagina.

Q. Does Fentistat have any effect on contraceptives?
Yes, Fentistat can damage condoms and diaphragms (barrier method of contraception), thereby affecting their efficacy. Therefore, instead of using these, you can use alternative methods of contraception such as contraceptive pills.

Q. How should Fentistat be used?
Fentistat should be used strictly as per the doctor’s advice. The usual dose of Fentistat is one applicator full in the morning and one applicator full in the evening for 3 days. Your symptoms may disappear quickly, but it is important that you continue using the cream for 3 days.
